Ok ive been looking at getting a GPS unit to connect up to my windows mobile powered phone,
ive found This and was wondering how well this would cope in undergrowth. i know that i would probaly have to purchase a aerial patch cable as it may be a bit to bulky to mount to a helmet
so i have 3 questions
What map software to use? ( i would like the software to plot routes and also give me a on the go map of where i am)
Will the receiver cope?
How can i attatch my phone to the handlebars? (its an old phone and im looking to get a new o ne anyway)
cheers in advance

I can recommend the following that I've been using with an old xda2 plus Tomtom and Memory Map software.

The receiver gets excellent reviews and has worked for me without fault, see the following link for example:

The current price is within range of the one you've seen but I got mine on offer a few months ago for £15.25 including vat p&p etc. It was delivered next day so the vendor is good IMHO.
I've used it on my bike in the saddle bag with the xda in my pocket and it tracked a 25 mile ride. Used it on Kinder Scout in a howling gale, wrapped in one of those zip-up freezer bags for liquids, it was spot on. It's worked faultlessly with Tomtom in the car.
Google Otter Box for weather proof bike mount optiond for pda etc.
Hope this helps.0
