I got a Wiggle voucher which I'm buying some SPD pedals for the MTB with.
Went out the other day on it and it felt really weird not clipping in (and like cycling a tractor, but can't do a lot about that!)

I got an Altura Attack Extreme jacket
    Attack-Exteme-WP---Orange.jpg

from my gf - yes, its Orange, she tells me this is the new black!

It seems like an excellent jacket, light, breathable, and should be fully waterproof.

I got a wheel truing stand (cheap one), spoke tension meter (nice Park one) and wheel dishing gauge (the cheaper of the two Park ones).

Those were pretty much the last few things I needed to be self-sufficient in the world of bike maintenance so hopefully that will make for lots of trouble-free commuting in 2009.

    I got:

    FULCRUM RACING 7's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now I just need tyres and tubes to be fitted.

On Christmas day I was just sitting there spinning the freewheel - such a beautiful sound!

    I also got:
    Gears of War2
    Fallout 3
    Hancock - twice
Battle of Wits (DVD of the Kung Fu variety)
    A slow/steamer cooker
    Spice rack
    Aftershave - twice
    Chocolates -
    Bottle of wine. -
Money towards a new amplifier to go with my acquired TDL RTL3 speakers (such low smooth 'round' bass - They say Reggae was invented to be played on those speakers).

Apart from the chocolates none of that isn't really bike specific (I can eat the chocolate on the commute home).

I didn't, however, get the messenger bag from my parents. I gave them too many options and asked for it too late in the day....

  • racing 7's they make quite a racket don't they! never going to creep up on some one, have them on old red seem very nice.

I love the sound. A women who pulled up beside me once was on a Willier Mortirolo (Beautiful Bike) and she went freewheel on me with Fulcrum Racing 7's from that moment my love affair for Willier bikes and the sound the Fulcrum's make began.

When I bought it, I didn't like the colour much, but a) that's the only colour they come in, b) I got a hell of a deal on the bike.
I am warming to the colour, although it is a bit too much "Look at me" whereas all the other bikes I have owned or still own, are very much "Understated" in their looks. If I get to really dislike it, I can always go for a recoating,

Erm, I got a bike maintenance book. This will help on my commute as it will allow my bike to run for longer!

I'll also count my birthday tho as it's only 6 days before and for that I got a set of Mavic Aksiums from my lovely wife and a toolkit off my parents :-)
Like DDD there will be no creeping up on people before due to the lovely (but slightly less noisy) freewheel! Best bit is that I've just popped down the LBS and got the tyres, brake blocks and new inner tubes to get em fitted!!!! Guess what I'll be doing late into the evening :-D

This christmas was bike free other than Lance Armstrong's book - it's not about the bike.

My familly have finally rebelled and now refuse to order obscure parts from internet sites they've never heard of :(

I thought I was going to get a big zero this year , but rather belatedly I got a plastic thing to hold my front wheel when I am on the trainer. I didn't know that such things existed or that I needed one but now I have one.

I got some Orange F8 rigid forks for the commuter bike. Now I'm waiting for a new star nut so I can actually fit them!

    F8RIGID_200.jpg

I was given some cash too and have ordered some Conti Ultra Gators and other bits from Wiggle. The tyres are a total bargain at the moment, I got mine for £16ish each in the end. With lighter forks and skinny slicks, I hope to shave some time from the commute!

I took a trip down to Chain Reaction's showroom as well (it's about 5 miles from my house) to get a look at a BeOne Storm 1.0 road bike - Alu/Carbon+105 for £500. They didn't have one ready, but they're building one up for me in the correct size with no obligation just so I can try it out. I say that's pretty darn good customer service. I hope to persuade the mrs. that it's a bargain purchase not to be missed :)

The only cycling gifts I got were Tim Krabbé's "The Rider" and a pair of personally knitted bottle green ear warmers that fit over your helmet straps :)
