I ordered a new orbea gavia last week in november.was told soon as i signed and returned finance the bike would be sent out(deposit was taken out of bank BEFORE i got the finance details to sign). 2nd week in dec had arrived and no sign of bike.1 phone call later and i found out they did not have one in stock and would have to be sent direct from orbea in spain.fair enough i suppose, but here's my gripe, all terrain have not answered this yet.but my bike arrived dec 17th.supposedly from the factory direct but it turned up in a trek mountain bike box complete with bontrager stickers and numerous scratches on stem bars and crank and no documents. has anybody any idea's or similar experience's ?. i have a funny feeling someone could be taking p#ss!!!. I know it's always best to buy locally and go to shop but finance and time did not allow.

It never ceases to amaze me,the amount of idiots who buy a bike they've neither seen nor sat on.Incredible!

So you thought you'd post just to point out i'm an idiot and your not.Well thanks for that.
I'd appreciate it you wouldn't call me an idiot.thank you. There is no need to be insulting.

why should i want to sit on it I've sat on a bike before.
why would i want to look at it in real?it would still be the same colour
as long as the frame is right size where's the problem?
My problem isn't with wrong size or colour.

I knew the ins and out's of this bike through web research (including frame dimensions colour scheme's etc) didn't need to go to the bike shop to um and ah and scratch my chin over loads of available bikes.Maybe just maybe it is not me who's the idiot here.

no wonder my parents think i am misanthropic

After seeing your attempt at grammar and punctuation in your last post I would also say you are a semi-literate moron.
If you are dyslexic,or English is not your first language,I apologise.

What never ceases to amaze me is how when someone asks a perfectly reasonable question, another poster decides to ignore this entirely, and have a go at the OP. He wasn't asking if you thought he was an idiot, he was asking if anyone had had the same experience with all terrain cycles, so why did you feel the need to have a go, then follow it up with more abuse.

I have used All Terrain before, with no problems, but this was for smaller items, not a complete bike.

thanks for that. I thought it was just me who didn't see the point in the other post.

i put it down to the ever increasing "small man syndrome " that seems to be going around.you know the thing make someone look bad to make yourself look better.Or should that be oneself?I dunno i'm semi-literate.

I would use all terrain again and dare i say it,I will buy an Orbea mtb without going to sit on it and look at it in the flesh, well alloy. I just found it strange my bike turned up in a trek box that's all.

    It's official lad's I'M AN IDIOT

I'm afraid to say i have never used ATC, but why would Orbea send one of their bikes out in a Trek box, they just wouldn't..
I would have reported this and also the various scratches to your bike, that's not acceptable. Also i would think twice about spending alot of money with them again, definately sounds dodgy. Is there no other U.K dealers or shops that can order the MTB?

If you have nothing helpful to say to the OP then why post anything atall? In trying to insult ones grammar and punctuation, it helps when you use it properly yourself.

ATC are ok and I use them a fair bit. They sell some good stuff.

You should have told them about the scratches straight away though. Ring up and speak to Tony and tell him about your dissatisfaction, he might be able make amends - it would only be reasonable to give him the opportunity.

As for the Trek box, does it really matter? I'm sure they just shipped the bike out in whatever box was conveniently at hand at the time.

Is that anti-freeze or screen wash in your bottle? I know it's been cold recently but that's taking it to extremes isn't it.

I'm amazed at how a chap who takes the time to criticise another's punctuation, and furthermore insults him for it (on an internet forum FFS), can himself make some fairly basic errors. There should be a space after a full stop at the end of a sentence and also after a comma. There should also be an 'if' between 'or' and 'English' in your last sentence. I blame the skools.

One observation I make is that I find it surprising that, irrespective of the origins of the transport box, that it was allowed to be imported from Spain (or couriered within the UK) without any accompanying documents/invoice etc....even a courier note stuck to the box, indicating its origin.
  • For all terrain read Cyclocross. That's about as close as you'll get

I sent an email to allterrain and got this reply:

Hi there the bike came in a trek box simply because we unpack the bike when it comes from orbea to check over and set up before it comes to yourself, the box it came in had to be destroyed to be opened so we re packed it in a trek box. Have you not received a DVD through since our last communication?
    Regards

i Have received the dvd. I make a call to all terrain and they apologised for the scratches.I suppose that is as good as I'll get so i will let them off this time LOL :P

ps ,already got a few extra scratches
