I've got an old-fashioned single pivot calliper on my fixed and it's a bit rubbish, but i've stuck with it because it gets the brake blocks down far enough to grab the 700c wheels (the forks are designed for old 27in wheels)

will either of these do the job ??? and can you get them in the uk ?

ok, wiggle do these, is it a 57 mm drop I need ?

Measure the brake you have now. You're looking at the vertical distance from the centre of the nut which fixes the brake to the fork/frame to the centre of the brake pad. If it's between 47 and 57mm, either of those brakes will be fine.

You may well need very deep drop like these -

If they're to replace Weinmann centrepulls it's almost a cert, otherwise you might get away with 57mm. If you give SJS a ring and tell them what is on there now, they will probably know.
  • Hi,

I am looking to find long reach calipers too. I have a Surly Streamroller frame and I would like to use very large winter tyres (622-42, or so). I have tried to assemble the tyres, but the tyre contacts the underside of the brake caliper arms. Otherwise, there's plenty of space in the bike frame.

So, I am looking for some long reach calipers that minimise the distance between the center of the mounting bolt and the underside of the caliper arms.

Those Miche look like they have potential. Any way to know/measure?

    thanks!
