  • My first mountain bike was a red 20in GT Outpost in 1993.. it had one cro-mo steel tube (the seat tube) and all the rest was hi-tensile steel...frame weighed 7lbs!!! 21 gears and no front suspension.. I seem to recall it had maybe 48 (?) teeth on the outer chainring and one day with the wind behind me I pedalled it to 36mph down a long flat road where I lived.
