Problematic Specialized AFR Rear shocks

I'm on my second Specialized full suss bike at the moment (a Stumpy), previously had an Epic 08 model and I have been having nothing but trouble with the rear AFR shocks.

The first one on the Epic lost air while going over bumps and then the knob on the brain fade jammed - this had to be replaced by Specialized only about a few months after buying the bike.

Anyway I changed the Epic for a Stumpjumper last October (only kept the Epic for a while) and now the rear shock seems to be leaking oil onto the piston and again the knob on the brain fade has jammed. Luckily Specialized give a 5 year warranty for the rear shocks but it doesn't look good for them when they develop problems only after a few months of use!

Has anyone else had this kind of problem with their AFR rear shock?

have a look here, it appears loads of folk have had trouble but bear in mind compared to how many folk actually own them, its probably not as bad as it looks.

i had to send my e150 fork for repair after only a couple of rides but since its return, it has been perfect. as a point of reference, i had to send my reba back after only a few rides too as the uturn assy failed and it needs some attention paying to the right leg as it doesnt lock out or spring back wen i release the poploc (yes the cable is clean thank you very much) it is supposed to be one of the best forks out there but is more troublesome than my e150.
