:( I got a GT Avalanche 3.0 for christmas and i have used it every day since. I went around the local town centre and i did a endo and bang deauralier bent. And about 30 minutes ago i went out for a few mates. I change and "CHCHCKCHC" it snapped. So my Mam & Dad have grounded me and i need a new Shimano Alivio deauralier :(:cry::cry:

The same happened to me (minus the endo) with my last bike; went for a ride the day after I bought it, heard clatterclatterclatter from the back end and thought "blimey, the indexing's gone off quick". Had a look and discovered the derailleur about to make a dive for freedom into the spokes. It was a GT too.

BTW Happy New Year and all that

An endo is where you ride along and hit the front brake and lift the back wheel without going over the bars, letting the back wheel hit the ground and ride off. A stoppie is similar except you shift your weight around so that the front wheel is still turning with the rear wheel in the air, a reverse wheelie in effect.

    Endo.

I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

We're all to old and far to sensible for endo's on here

Skids and wheelies are where it's at
pain is temporary, the glory of beating your mates to the top of the hill lasts forever.....................

Isn't the Avalanche an XC bike, not a freestyle bike?

Don't see how any of that could have broken the mech though, must have been faulty when it was sold to you. You might not want to mention the tricks when telling the shop you were sold a lemon though.
    Do Nellyphants count?
