What forks are they?
Merlincycles.co.uk currently have some Rock Shox Tora 318 with Poploc for £99 in a sale at the moment. 8)0 -

The fit of forks isn't really too hard a task in general, I've sent you a PM.0

You don't need MSN to read your PM. If you are logged in (which you must be as you're posting) Then the PM will be in your inbox. Accessible from BikeRadar Forum Index page, will be just above the black banner saying forum index.

Toras are the best for that money. Fork fitting guides can be found in the FAQ and/or Workshop section. Park Tools also has a good guide.0

Make sure it has the correct brake mounts! Do you need V brake mounts?0
-
yes i do does that narrow my choice?0
-

Rebound need adjusting?0
-
yes i think so a little help needed though =/ do i need ot turn it towards the hare or the tortoise?!? to get better movement on rocks/roots0
-
You have to experimnet and see what feels best! Make sure sag is correct, around 25% of travel, and they are not locked out.0
-
ok ill have a play around tomorrow they were not locked out i stopped and checked that because it was soo bad.
thank0 -
Plus they take a while to bed in. Often a few rides. keep the seals lubed (see manual)0
-
i didn't get a manual :? :? can you advise me please ? cheers.0
-
Heh, you can download them from the RS website.
Wipe fork down with damp cloth, then put two or three drops of chain oil at the bottom of the top legs just above the seal. Bounce on forks a few times, wipe of excess. Repeat until excess is clean oil.
Do after every two or three rides.0 -
ok the manual is crazily complicated is there nothing i can do without taking the fork all apart?!? cheers.0
-
You don't have to take the fork apart to do what I just said, nor adjust it!0
-
ok i will have ago tomorrow if i can thank for you help very useful!!0

I need to get round to replacing my forks sometime soon, not to soon as my recent crash cost me 120 quid but i'll either get Toras or a pair of Bombers cos my dart 2's are appalling, will probably get air sprung but the tora airs are a bit expensive so maybe either bombers or toras on sale price if i can find them
