Has my bike been sold with the right fork?

Anyone any good at identifying forks?

I treated myself to a marin rocky ridge for chrimbo.

It comes with a Fox 32 Vanilla R, 140mm with 15QR thru axle system.

The forks that came with my Bike have "Float" written on on leg and "R" written on the other.

Looking the the fox website i see they also do a fork called "Float"

This has got me wondering if my bike has been sold to me with the correct fork as surely it would say "Vanilla" where "Float" is written?

Any ideas?

a pic would help but it does sound like you have the air fork (float) as oppose to the vannilla (coil).

iirc the vanilla has the word "vanilla" written on the leg

depends on your view but iwould prefer the float any day of the week and it is a more expensive fork too!! the advantage of air is lighter weight and much easier to adjust to individual riders weights

looks like you have got yourself a good deal if they are the floats!

Manufacturers often reserve the right to swap components and in this case it doesn't sound like they've reduced the spec either. As long as it is still 140mm of travel & 15mm QR it sounds like a good deal.
It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.

    I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
    Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result

Its looks like they are the FLoat. I opened up the preload cap and theres an air valve there. Luckily i realised this as i was just about to but a heavier weight spring. Looks like ill have to buy a pump now!

nicely done then, i would prefer an air spring any da and a new pump wont be more expensive than a new spring.
  • same happened with my rocky ridge, came with a float rather than vanilla fork, i'm pretty chuffed, much prefer air forks because i find even the heaviest springs to still be a little soft for me

Does it still have the 15mm bolt thru axle?
