Has anyone here got a working email address or phone number for Mavic? I want to find out the maximum stress/tolerance the A719 rim can withstand when it comes to spoke tension.

    No, but one of these should be able to help:

    Quote from the Mavic technical manual:

    • Respect the appropriate spoke tensions; Mavic recommends spoke tensions between 70 and 90 kg (for a front or rear wheel on the free wheel side with a
    crossed 3 pattern). Inappropriate spoke tension can generate too much stress and damage the rim;

    That's only 700 - 900 Newtons, isn't it? That seems pretty low.

    Just called Mavic (01296 404 870 if anyone else wants the number) and spoke to a helpful chap who confirmed that 70 - 90 Kg is correct, and yes, that translates to 700 - 900 in newtons.

    That surprises me though, I really thought they'd be able to take more than that. I tensioned them up to about 120 Kg over the weekend so now I guess I'll have to drop them back down again or face the prospect of cracks in the eyelets.
