That team have a couple of right dodgy cats on it.

Lhotellerie seems to suffer from a Dekker-esqe problem. You'd think he'd have no problems getting a decent ride but instead ends up on a smaller new team.

So Baden has bailed on Rock Racing then?
Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.
  • Ah, a comment on tropic.
Yes, he's probably one of a very few lucky ones who will find a ride.
Slim pickings this late in the day.
I would say they were slightly less dodgy than the team he jumped ship from?
I wasn't happy to see him end up at RRing, just glad to see he's got a ride.

Baden's had some rubbish luck the last few years with teams.

I had forgotten he won the green jersey 5 years ago.

He's had an odd career. There is that Green Jersey but all the other wins are relatively small stuff, stage wins in the Etoile de Besseges and other early season results, he'd normally be similar to Jimmy Casper but for his Tour de France success. It also goes to show how a rider can burst onto the scene but then fall back.

PS: MG, sometimes it feels like you just come here to bemoan people who question Armstrong ("full of their own self importance" etc). Why not actually chat about cycling too?
  • He's certainly been dogged by ill fortune, since that early Green Jersey. Flattered to deceive?
Not quite a flat out sprinter, not quite a Classics man.
Nearly made it, in that notorious Gent Wevelgem. Might have taken Bettini in that Giro stage.
Goes to show how the element of luck can play such an important part in a career's palmares.

MG: You obviously know your stuff, so as Kleber says, join in the chat.
I think it's obvious that this is a "fringe" topic, so most won't wish to contribute. Therefore of no interest to most. (masses)
I have read your other posts, but don't wish to comment.

  • Cooke has quite a talent for signing with the wrong teams. He needs to get better career management or he will end up as a "whatever happened to" quiz question.

Bit more info, some of it juicy

Mylesrants, do you honestly think Vacansoleil are any better? They've got a few colourful characters on the team too.

  • It's a dirty old world out there. Cooke comes out looking a bit of a s*it, for encouraging those youngsters to the Rock, then bailing. Ultimately, though, it's truely a Balls up.
Starting to remind me of Coast......

  • This might shed some light on whats happening with Rock Racing, just glad Cooke got a ride with some one. http://www.cyclingnews.com/news.php?id=news/2009/jan09/jan04news
