Good time of year to start back. If you use the man made courses they should be a bit quieter this time of the year. It seems that some people put their bikes away when it gets cold wet and muddy. (strange)
If you were into bikes before I gues you now the basics. As for training, start off within your fitness level. Go out and see how it goes over ever increasing distances and times. I guess like me your main problem will be making emough time for a ride, kids are very time consuming creatures.
I don't tend to worry about food too much, the more I ride the more I eat, not very scientific but it works for me. Perhaps others can offer you advice on this subject.

the best adviice I can give is try to drink about 3/4 of a litre of water for each hour you ride., In the summer this will increase. PSP make good powders to add to the water and do gells and energy bars. I only use them on very long rides and get them from my local Tesco.
    Get out there and enjoy.
  • Cheers for the advice, i've even been banging away today on the wife's wii fit board desparate to get it all back together again, went windsurfing yesterday i used to go out all day i managed about 40 mins on the water, its terrible what having a house full of kids can do to a man, ha

Just get out & ride - enjoy first, fitness will come along very quickly then!

Also when you & the family are going to friends say 20 miles away, leave half an hour before them & race them there! That way you get a decent ride and its free time as you are not away for a couple of hours.
  • Good thinking never thought of doing that, might stop the wife moaning at me when i want a blast ha
