Rear wheel play

Hi,
My rear wheel seems to have excessive "sideways play" when I try to push it left or right - how do I fix this? I had a new axle fitted a couple of months ago as the previous spindle sheared when I went over a hump at speed.....have checked the wheelnuts and they are tight (so tight that I rounded one off when trying to remove the wheel)
Can anyone point me in the right direction here?
Many thanks
Steve

Yup - you've got play in the wheel bearings. How you fix it is down to the design. For example, with a basic cone system, you just need to tighten it a little.0

Have a read of that, get some cone spanners, adjust. While you're at it clean out the bearings and put fresh grease in there - if you've ridden them loose this time of year it's possible some salty cruddy moisture will have got in them.0
