Am buying a Giant Anthem 2 08 from my LBS but we have yet to agree on a price. It is their ex-demo model but seems to be in perfect nick. What do you think I should be paying? Their first offer was £1K but I said I wanted it cheaper than that and they said they would see what they could do. I am picking it up tomorrow morning.

Any advice?

Pauls Cycles are knocking out 08 Anthem 2s at £959.00

Thanks for that guys. How much do you think they should knock of a demo bike?

I guess part depends on the condition but it's effectively second hand so I wouldn't pay more than £750 unless the demo consisted of one person riding it around a car park.

    Are you getting full/part warranty?

    Yes getting full warranty.
The demos obviously consisted of more than just car park trials as it was caked in mud when I saw it!

check the paint work, it doesnt matter if you scratch the bike youself, thats the thing about bikes but buying someone elses careless scratches and chips is very annoying.

if it is spotless when washed up then about 900 would be fair but if it is scratched up and chipped i would pay closer to 800 or walk away and buy a brand new unused one for the prices quoted above.

also bear in mind when you buy an ex demo, there is no way to prove who wore out the drivetrain if it wears out prematurely and you could be stuck with paying for replacement parts sooner than you think.

Yeah I guess I was thinking between £800 or £900 depending on condition.
I think £750 might be taking the P*ss!

tbh i think 750 is fair unless it is pristine
