No School run this morning

Finally the schools have broken up, and the roads are utterly devoid of mum's taking little sebastian to school in a 4x4
It almost makes my commute through south London pleasurable, oh boy am I going to savour the next couple of days

...me to, although I leave a bit early for the actual school run there was a lot less traffic this morning......all the way...'til the wheels fall off and burn...0

The thing is the school run pushes normal commuting traffic ever earlier in the day
Days like today make you realise just how much the traffic would be reduced by if all the little darlings got the bus, or used bikes
Where I used to work my boss always complained that the school run that would normally take him 15 mins took him about 40 mins due to traffic. He was taking 3 kids all in senior school (18, 15 & 12) to various schools within a 15 min drive of his house, in a bloody great Volvo XC90      He really couldn't see the irony of itpain is temporary, the glory of beating your mates to the top of the hill lasts forever.....................

wasn't it blissful? Well, apart from the fact that it meant the bus drivers were all a bit over-excited about being able to travel faster than 5 mph and therefore dangerous as all hell...point your handlebars towards the heavens and sweat like you're in hell0

I was on the bus today cos i'm going for drinks at lunchtime. The bus and the roads were virtually empty, but the driver made up for it by stopping at all the usual stops and waiting for a couple of minutes, even when there was no-one getting on or off. Which makes me think bus drivers aren't actually human, they're programmable robot humanoids. I miss my bike today0

Other than one white van man trying to hit me head first by pulling out of a parking spot on my side of the road, but going in the opposite direction it was fantastic. Even the busses behaved themselves for once.
A rare day indeed, and definately one to put me in the Christmas spirit

Of course, if he hadn't, he would have been well ahead of schedule and you would have missed it.Organising the Bradford Kids Saturday Bike Club at the Richard Dunn Sports Centre since 1998

I know it's Christmas when a WVM actually stops mid-roundabout & gives ME right of way when I hadn't yet joined the roundabout.
Definitely seems to be lots of people in much friendlier mood, I guess because nobodys going to be late.

Not necessarily. Mine's a busy bus route, they're along every few minutes rather than to a timetable, and going round in a loop.
I'd agree with stopping to wait if he had a schedule to stick to, but on this route it's pointless.0 -
I was looking forward to cycling to work this week, but have been off with the flu and although I'm back in the office today I'm still not 100%. So, enjoy the empty roads - I wish I was! Having said that, the empty train was wonderful this morning and very relaxing.0
