16 and in a dilema

hey, im 16 and really getting into mountain biking but my hardrock 06 is starting to fall to pieces and i really have no idea whether to get a new bike or upgrade some of the components. I have about £500 to spend just wondered if anyone could help me.

carrera fury! defiantly best components for your money! and with a rockshox Tora 318 you cant go wrong! you might even be able to get it for £430 odd pounds online. I have one and its great highly recommended!!

look around for little used second hand bikes too, you can pick up a high spec 1yr old bike that would of cost £1500-£2000 for £500 if you spend the time looking.

i just bought a 7 month old S-Works stumpjumper that cost over £4000 for just £1500....and it even came with spare wheels etc too, its like brand new still!

Fury is very good. You might still be able to find a cheap 07 or 08 Rockhopper too- there was an online shop selling them off for £350 for the disc version recently, which is nuts.

Great choice the rockhopper! I was after an 08 model but couldn't find one locally, so I ended up buying a 09 model. Couldn't be more happy with it especially as I got £100 knocked off the price!

Yeah, I'm not sure they're good value at full price- quite a lot of cheap parts- but when they're the price of a carrera kraken they can't really be argued with.

yep, cubes are good but rockhoppers despite some cheap parts have tora forks which are great at the price and the geometry is spot on.

If you are after a hardtail, the Orbea Sherpa Disc is a great bike, you can get it for about £500!!!!!!!!!

Showing as £582 here. Then add £30 for delivery.

Maybe not as good value as some of the other for the same price.

I definately recommend the Boardman Comp - make a comparison between that and most other bikes in the same price range and it comes out tops.
