Mix'n'match hydraulic brake levers...

Hi! Can anyone tell me whether hydraulic brake levers are ever compatible with other manufacturers calipers?
For example, if I were to put a Formula ORO K18 disc on the front and Magura HS33's on the rear (mainly due to a lack of disc mount) could I replace the Magura lever (complete master cylinder) with a Formula one so that both levers matched?
Thanks.

No. You can sometimes do it wiith same brands ie Shimano Xt levers/LX calipers, but not between brands. The master and slave cyclinders are matched to work in a speciic way. Not to mention Magura uses mineral oil, Formula DOT fluid.0
