What bad luck I have been having recently with bikes!!!!

1) First of all my Marin dies on me so I buy another bike (Boardman Hybir Pro); I then salvage some parts of it and put onto my new bike (computer, lights, pedals, bottle cage etc).
2) Within three days the pedals have knackered the thread on my new bike crank and it might be hard to get new compatiable chain ring so may have too buy whole new bottom bracket, chainset and pedals - if not just pedals and chain set.
3) as a back up I used my road bike and as I was leaving the house the chain chews up the rear derailuer and now that is out of action.

I am really spitting chips at the moment - argghhhh!

It is going to cost me a small fortune to get the Scott road bike and Boardman up and running again. An expense I dont need at moment.

Also Halfords do a free 6wk safety check and because the bike will be out of action I will not benefit form the check because it will take a few weeks to sort out and get new parts - holidays and xmas.

Hopefully after all of this though my spell of bad luck will come to an end - afterall I have had my three spells of bad luck.

  • Well if it's any consolation, here's my list of bad luck for 2008:

    1. Knocked off my bike by a WVM

    2. Some little chav going 60 on a wet country road lost control and crashed into me, writing off my car.

    3. 5 days later someone stole my bike from my walled garden where it was locked to a drainpipe. They took the lock too.

I thought that was 3, enough for one year, until Wednesday, which already has its own dedicated thread!

If it's a new bike (which Halfords 6 week check is a legal requirement to be provided) and I just had a number of failures I would be taking it back for a warranty repair, not trying ot fix it myself
    Do Nellyphants count?

    Commuter: FCN 9
    Cheapo Roadie: FCN 5
    Off Road: FCN 11

+1 when I don't get round to shaving for x days

It's hard to see how it could be difficult to get hold of cranks/chainrings for Boardmans since they're so popular?

Yep like the man said sounds like a warranty job, if the threads have stripped its most like because they were not installed correctly, ether way this should be costing you a penny.

Did the bike came with pedals fitted?
Rule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.
Rule #9 // If you are out riding in bad weather, it means you are a badass. Period.
Rule #12 // The correct number of bikes to own is n+1.
Rule #42 // A bike race shall never be preceded with a swim and/or followed by a run.
