Annoying squeaky bikes (especially single speeds)

Bit of a rant but, is it just me or does anyone else seem to meet loads of commuters with sqeaky bikes? Half the bikes I pass on my commute seem to squeak. I can understand this on some bikes you meet, however this morning I passed a bloke on a single speed Charge something or other and it sounded as if his drive train had never seen any lube since it left the shop. Don't get me wrong I like single speeds and the ease of maintenance etc, but its not hard to lube your chain.
