Hi Guy's,
can anyone tell me which of the new Hope Brakes i should opt for, not sure of the difference between the V2 and X2 and whether or not to get floating or non floating?
Just made the jump from V brakes to disks.
Please help.

The V2 are what used to be the Moto V2 - hugely powerful brakes designed for DH usage. The X2 is a smaller, lighter, cheaper, less powerful unit better suited to XC/Trails. If you are upgrading from V then I think of those 2 then X2s will be better suited (although personally I would not buy Hopes).
No real performance difference between floating and normal rotors - floating are a bit lighter and blingier!"Melancholy is incompatible with bicycling." ~James E. Starrs0 -
Go with the X2's, but have you not had a look around at the older models or even 2nd hand? I've heard theres a few issues with how big the clamp is for the lever, making the shifters sit further in towards the bar creating a "funny" feal when changing gear which can be uncomfortable.
If this isn't an issue then the Hope's are the ones to go for. A lot of people on this forum like Formula disk brakes, but honestly Hope are brilliant brakes. Most bike shops in the country stock hope spares, and they can all be rebuildable, and usually parts are fairly cheap. The X2 are powerfull, but if weight isn't an issue for you then look at the X4's or the older M4's or Mini's.
I HOPE this helps0 -
