Surely that can only be a good thing. Anyway they generally consider legislation from Westminster and accept or reject it as they see fit. Hence their ability to close roads for whatever they feel like, they've even been known to close the mountain road for Top Gear to do some testing.
.
Sorry but the IOM is NOT part of the UK. It is a self governing Crown Dependency.
Foreign relations, defence and several other matters are controlled by the UK Govt but everything else they take care of themselves. Yes they can (and do) choose to adopt or reject laws passed in Westminster but that is their own choice.0 -
The Isle of Man, although part of the British Islands, is not part of the United Kingdom.
It is an internally self-governing dependency of the British Crown and its people are British citizens holding British passports. The Queen is Head of State and her official representative on the Island, the Lieutenant Governor, is appointed by the Crown for a five year term.
Although the Island is nominally self governing the Crown has ultimate responsibility for the good government of the Island.
The island has its own legislature although most laws are adopted directly from the UK.
The Isle of Man is not part of the European Union although the Manx Government adopt European legislation as they see appropriate.

I'm in NW9, right next to Lord's and in Regents regularly for certain specific training. I ride a black Scott. For longer rides without a strict agenda I go straight up Abbey Rd, follow it through W. Hampstead, Golders, towards Finchley, then chuck a right towards Mill Hill and you're in the lanes. From there some nice undulating roads around Essendon and you can either go north and west towards the Chilterns or east towards Epping Forest and Essex.-- Dirk Hofman Motorhomes --0 -
We are practically neighbours then as I live in Hall road - thanks for the tip on routes. Will keep an eye for a black scott when I get back home in March - I'll be on a Red/white Ridley Damocles and usually cycle with my wife who is on a black Look or my cousin who is on a red/black ridley gladius.0

The thing about cycling in rural Wales is that you seem to be able to go up well surfaced A roads without being threatened by evil maniacs in metal boxes every 15 seconds
I think my favourite roads in my favourite cycling area are
1) The A road past the renewnable energy centre between Machnylleth and Dollgelau
2) The A40 bypass for Abergavenny at approx midnight. Sounds unlikely but it is fun
3) The mountain road from Cwmystwyth to Rhayader0 -

Cool, I'll be into the race season proper by March so Regents Park sessions will probably only be short, sharp high-intensity thrashes 8)-- Dirk Hofman Motorhomes --0 -

Gospel Pass if you like a steep climb before gentle 10 mile downhill through Welsh mountain scenery in a picturesque steep-sided valley on a windy country road. Alternatively you can go the other way and have a less steep but longer climb up.
+1 some fab riding to be had around the black mountains.- 2023 Vielo V+1
