sigh.

Shimano chain broken with less than 3 months commuting use. Worth trying for a refund? I haven't abused it at all (until it broke)

It's unusual for a new chain to just break however they clearly do, sometimes! so unless you have a very friendly LBS it's unlikely they'll replace it, but there is some good news, the chain can be repaired with either a new link pin or a quick link, both cheap.

    Its still a pain

I popped mine by stopping when I was between gears, then setting of pedalling as hard as I could (was late!), and chain just snapped. Bike shop just whipped out the broken link and rejoined it in 5 mins!
  • I shouldn't think they'll replace the whole chain but they'll certainly do a link, and you shouldn't pay! As long as they're where you got it from... If not you may have to pay. Shouldn't be much though.

Beware advise from LiT's she puts down so much power she breaks tendons - True!

Her LBS refuses to sell chains to her now

I thought they refused to sell her chains as they are designed forbike use, not bedroom/dungeon use

I try to keep that quiet - only a few bike shops are really aware...
