Yet another brake question

Recently replaced the rear Tektro IO brakes with Avid BB7 mechanical discs.
Have been pleased with the better braking performance of the BB7's but in very wet and muddy conditions they still start to fade badly. It's not so much that the pads are wearing out, as when I check them there is plenty of pad left. But the lever pressure all but disappears and I have to keep adjusting the pad spacing on the brake caliper thoughout the ride.
Is this normal behaviour?

To an extent. Tektro IO on Avid BB7 are both good cable brakes - compression free brake outer, sealed linings and good pads make the difference.
As pads wear the only way is to manually adjust I am afraid.0
