axle size

i found a rear wheel i want to get, it says the axle is 3/8, is that 10mm?

    A quick calculation works out 3/8" to be 9.5mm. For the sake of 0.5mm you'd be better off buying a complete axle with cones and bearing, think cyclo still sell them. Rears are generally 10mm axle and fronts 9mm.
    I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

    3/8" is a front wheel size. (and some other odd balls)

    yes it is a 10mm rear wheel. for a BMX rather than a 14mm one.
