Stem Sizes/Rises

Just a quick question, but could someone clarify the benifits of different headset lengths/rises etc i.e is it better to have a longer headset with rise? shorter headset with no rise?

Im looking at changing my headset to a Blue Hope, but am unsure about length and rise.

    It's whatever you're comfortable with. If you feel too stretched out or want a more direct feel to the steering, go for a shorter/higher rise stem. Longer/low rise stems can improve a cramped cockpit and help with climbing (at the expense of descending). If you want to change your position, try a cheap stem in a different length/rise just to get the feel of it before splashing out on a mega-buck stem.
