Hi,
Just been having a look at the new Trek Fuel EX8 09 model, i am slightly confused by the frame sizes.
The 17.5in frame reads 16.5in actual frame size.
Never seen this before so i would be grateful if someone can explain what is meant by these figures e.g. what frame size is the bike, 17.5in or 16.5in.

Not sure what they mean to be honest. Some measure to the top of the seat tube - some measure uo the seat tube to the middle of the top tube. Others measure vertically to the middle of the top tube.
All listed size from a specific manufacturer does is differentiate it from other sizes in the range. May not correlate at all to another manufacturer, and the same advice as always - try them out ;-)0 -

Might have to venture out with a tape measure over the holidays."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Hell, I am not going to a Trek dealer, not started smoking pipes yet ;-)
Saying that, I should be off to JE James this weekend, I'll go and torment the staff.0 -
