Been like it for about a year now, and they hurt quite a lot. I do wear gloves, long fingered at the moment but fingerless in the summer during which the crevasses were still present.

Anybody got any ideas to make them go away? Superglue, duct tape?

  • Hydrocortisone cream. OTC at Boots.

Maybe try a barrier like Vaseline or Norwegian something hand cream (in a small tube, red top).
Swim. Bike. Run. Yeah. That's what I used to do.

  • Doctor? Dermatologist?

    Moisturiser? Aloe Vera?

I can't think of much else...

And stop dragging your knuckles along the ground.

Or chop your arms off. That will make them go away. Doing the second one will be tricky though. You might need to phone a friend.

    Moisturiser? Aloe Vera?

Tried moisturiser, MAN did that sting and you know what blokes are like with pain, we're s**t at it.

I can almost see the bone through the cracks I'm sure.

If you've had it for a year then just take yourself to a doctor. There's all sorts of things it could be. Even just visit a pharmacist, they may be able to help.

I get this sometimes, try putting some chapstick on it, the one from norway works best.

    Hi,
Me too- especially when under stress. In my case it's some kind of eczema, I think- I don't get a rash, though, just the dry skin & cracks.
Doctor or pharmacist should be able to offer something to clear it up quickly, then a moisturiser will help keep it at bay. The Norwegian one that people are recommending is called "Neutrogena" and it's the best I've found, too. Comes in a small fat tube with a red top (unscented) or blue. Boots have it, about £3.50.
It can get nasty if you pick up an infection- the broken skin makes you more subsceptible- so don't ignore it.
I've found that harsh detergents (especially things like white spirit or Swarfega) make it worse, best to minimise exposure.

    Cheers,
    W.

I get this too. I think it is eczema. Try using hydrocortisone cream. Normally it clears up quite quickly. Don't overdo it & don't use it for longer than 7 days. If it really is an open wound... see the doctor

I think it's Norwegian foormula hand cream by Neutrogena, it's fantastic stuff

defiantly a job for the LBS I think, not really one for the home mechanic. You need special tools etc...
