Being a bit skint, but needing a decent bike to get to and from work and something that would make the journey on the London to Paris.

I am skint to the point where I am looking to see what my catalogue has to offer and so far it has come up with the Boss 'Corsa' at about 200 quid or the Raleigh Airlite 200

OK neither are what I would want, but it would be a start and get me something a little better than the cumbersome mountain bike I have at the moment.

so any thoughts?

  • SAVE!

Train on the mountain bike untill you can afford a better spec'd road bike. If you buy one now then you'll only have to save for a new one once you have bought the £200 bike, but you will be £200 less off.

    Just a thought?

My other option is the cycle to work scheme, but that can't be guaranteed as only so many people who apply will actually get the cash. of course if I got that funding then I would go with my first choice of the Trek bike I would like to get.

saving at the moment is difficult with having debts to pay off which is a right pain in the butt

    B'Twin.

Not sure on the actual models but I've ridden past (scalped and been scalped by) a couple on my commute they always appear quick and smooth.

Personally though I think perhaps you should try cycle scheme especially if it can give you the bike you want and feel most comfortable on.

As a last resort you may want to consider a finance deal like Classic Credit or Buy now pay 2010 (if your sure your employment is reasonsably safe from redundancy).

    Hope this helps.
