Reba Race forks, I need your help.

I had a problem with my Rockshox Reba Race forks, they've been away and I'm not sure if they're right or not.

They still feel soft when locked out and I'm not sure enough to make a nuisance of myself with the shop (they're under warranty still).

If any of you have these forks, could you measure (cable tie method is good) how much movement you can get with the forks locked with the floodgate set on max.

Cheers.

You should get 20mm or so movement when fully locked. Floodgate sets the force require to overcome that locked.

If the fork has been stored on its side or upside down, oil can drain out of the damper - cycle the frok through it full travel 20 times, should get it back to normal.

I had the damper changed, after that I wasn't sure about the lockout. They then sent the forks away to be serviced, they said there was nothing wrong with them when they came back.

Seems like a bit of a common issue this. As Sonic says there should be a little bit of movement, put a cable tie around and measure to get a definitive idea. Also makesure the floodgate is fully closed down, I find with my Reba teams that unless it's turned fully clockwise (external floodgate) the forks still squidge quite alot.

Other thing to check is if there is any reduction in travel. No lockout + travel loss indicates a blown oil seal allowing oil loss into the lowers. Compression damping reduction might indicate a lack of oil in the right hand leg.
It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.

    I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
    Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result
  • Sorry if the following seems obvious.

Are the forks up to the correct pressure? Also, is the lockout dial fully turned (don't rely on the remote switch telling you, check the dial on the fork top)?
