A number of the daily papers are carrying a report of comments by our marvelous "Minister for Europe" (Did anyone realise we had one?), Caroline Flint (Anyone ever heard of her?), salary £101,713 .
Apparently the Irish voted "No" over the Lisbon Treaty because of "misunderstandings".
Yep, they're just too thick to understand what this great project means.
They are now expected to vote again and get the right result.
Will any UK political party campaign at the next election onthe platform of giving us a vote?
I don't mind which one, I'll vote for them.

Caroline Flint (Anyone ever heard of her?), .

I know who Caroline Flint is, but only really because of her old role as Housing Minister (as I work in that sector). As far as MPs go she's a bit of a babe :lol:caroline-flint.jpg

My own local MP isn't too bad either (Nadine Dorries).

BTW I don't make up my political views based on who has the most attractive MPs, we just had a discussion at work about it one day.

The good folk of the Hull East constituency certainly don't.

  • I'd vote for her 8)

My opinion is that anyone who votes for UKIP is quite thick.
  • if you want to know what thick is, see the result of the recent congestion charge vote in Manchester. It's obviously not just an Irish thing
  • Were thick all right, thats for sure.
But only because we voted these f88kwits back into govt.
Were on the verge of takin to the streets over here now.Wont bore you with the details...
Any other thick Irish people out there care to comment?

I don't think we are thick - move over Greece - here is what we do with our Minister for Europe Affairs - I cannot believe they didn't recognise him!

"Roche held at gunpoint during Co Wicklow hotel robbery
    IRISH TIMES REPORTERS
Minister for Europe Affairs Dick Roche was held hostage during an armed raid at a Co Wicklow hotel this morning.

During the robbery on the Druids Glen Marriott Hotel & Country Club, nine members of staff and guests were held hostage by three men, one of whom was armed with a sawn off shotgun. All three men were wearing balaclavas.

Mr Roche (61) who was with his official driver had a gun held to his back during the robbery.

The minister was approached by the gunman in the main lobby of the hotel and the raiders may not have recognised him, his spokesman said."
"He was pedalling slowly in the middle of the street, reading a newspaper which he held with both hands spread open before his eyes. Every now and then he rang his bell without interrupting his reading"

Apparently the Irish voted "No" over the Lisbon Treaty because of "misunderstandings".

Polite way of saying "the No campaign was full of lies and half-truths but since nobody believes politicians anymore, nobody believed us when we said it was all lies and half-truths. We think we can do a better job exposing their lies and half-truths this time, and anyway, they won't have so much money to spend campaigning for a No vote this time around"

    Concise too.

    At the risk of sounding like Al Murray, she's recently been in the news after Brussels finally backed off and left the "Beautiful British Pint" well alone;

Reading around I can't see it happening any time soon.
  • some British politicians have already told me: 'If we had the euro, we would have been better off',"

If Brown hadn't managed to make the pound worthless we would have been better off. So I suppose in a sense that is correct.

Euro = bad decision economically speaking.

Possibly an advantage if you want to forge closer ties with europe politically, but economically there are no real advantages. Also whilst not a supporter of Brown it's not actually him whos made it worthless, its the credit crunch couple with low interest rates. If you want to raise the value of the currency then we can have 5% interest rates again... Personally I'm good until after christmas!
