Hi,

Chainreaction has some Juicy Carbon brakes for sale but the front only comes in 185mm Post Mount and the back in 160mm IS mount. I know that I need the 160mm IS mount, but would I be correct in thinking that all I need to do is change the mounting bracket on the 185mm Post Mount to change it to a front 160mm IS mount?

Probably a very stupid question, but I want to be sure before splashing the best part of 300 quid!

Cheers

Do you want a 160mm front rotor ?

  • Yeah, I want to keep the 160mm rotors that I'm running at the moment.

(But this could be an ideal time to put a big one on the front?)

what is your current front brake and adapter, you could well just fit you new caliper to it.

the bolt holes will line up but the adapter might be too wide. i fitted my mates hayes strokers to his new revelations with an old formula adapter i had lying about.
  • At the moment I have Shimano LX brakes with 160mm rotors. The mounting points on my bike (front and back) are IS (51mm). I assume I can fit the Juicy Carbon's ( or any Juicy for that matter) as long as I match them with the correct bracket?

by the looks of it, those brakes come with the rotors dont they? in which case you should be good to go.

They should fit your bike fine, and do use the larger rotor, makes a world of diffence!

I have these brakes and theyre awesome (although my front one is a little sick at the moment! :( )

There's a reason why Avid are selling with a 185 front, so best follow their lead.
