....out there this a.m. But better than ice. Worst is the standing water - in places up to the centre of the road! - skirting it puts one out into the traffic, ploughing through 4-6" deep stuff can't see what one might hit that could bring one off!
Seemed to travel sideways at times...
Ride safe if you are out today.

Forecast for tomorrow is superb, if a little cold - highest daytime temperature for where I'm going is 2 degrees :P

Yep , definitely too W&W out there for me. Even the eagerly anticipated venture in the car to buy a soggy Xmas tree might have to be put on hold. I'm just going to sit indoors and eat.

Out on Thursday for 45 miles. Out tomorrow for 50ish so I am quite happy not to venture forth today.Hats off you Dave for hacking it.I think Iam getting soft  Still thats the beauty of now working part time, I can afford to pick which days I ride.Having said that my rather large GSD having just come and give me that look ; are we going out or what.

  • tipping it down here, already got soaked just taking the dog out, he loved it though.

I planned my weekend riding using this great new invention called a weather forecast.
Got 30 miles in friday afternoon. will do 50 tommorow as long as it does'nt freeze over night. I have the motovation of a Christmas roast waiting for me at the other end of my ride, just got get over the downs to claim my prize.

I've revised my plans for tomorrow. Lots of rain today + freezing temperatures tomorrow = probably lots of ice. Still going for a ride, round the local lanes rather than the hills as i'd planned. I'm not chasing numbers but i'm 70 miles off the 1000 total this year (had hoped to do more but injury and crap summer got in the way), and tomorrow's my last chance for an all-day ride. So yes, i'm chasing numbers... :)

Intended to do 4 hours but cold cold up on them thar hills around Bolton so came home after 2 and a bit. My idea of making up time on the rollers never came to pass, as anyone could have predicted including me.
You just have to ride like you never have to breathe again.

Much the same here. I'm hoping will be OK for a slow (well, even slower than my usual potter) c. 40 miles if I start later than normal 7 a.m. That plus usual 15-20 per day should get me to my target 6,000 total by New Year.

Turned out lovely today, a lot warmer than i expected, but got my ride in... but i suffered. Hardly any hills, no wind, not too cold, but for the last 40 miles (out of 80) i felt like i had no power, like i was riding up an endless steep hill. Got home in time to vote for Hoy though :)

I hate the rain, for the past 7 days I've been constantly bombing up oxford road in Manchester, it's all I can do at the moment as I'm back and forward to the bike shop like a yoyo, when my bike stops breaking and is fixed I'll attempt to do a long ride, winter is very horrible for long rides though :(

It's like being on a fix, big ring front, second to last little ring at back, it's ok as my front mech is set so I can do this but at about 28mph I'm doing about 140RPM and tires me out as thats too fast for me

I went out yesterday - nice to see the sun for a change. :)

The bike came back absolutely caked in grime though. No time for a clean as it's dark by 3.30pm :(
  • How comes you got to see some sunshine?????

I left crawley at 9.30 in fog, and it was grey and mirky all the way to Yapton, could'nt even see the top of the downs.
  • I'm really annoyed with myself, I went to the gym on Saturday, did a full weights workout and then 45 min of jogging / cross training so come Sunday and the 'warm' sunny day that it was around here, I was sore, didn't want to overdo it so didn't go out on my bike... I'm fed up of the turbo trainer and gym and Sunday was the best day around here for weeks and I didnt go out grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr........
