A new star nut with a new set of forks? namely rockshox?

    Not when i got my Toras last year!!! probably get one thrown in with most shops if you ask though.

    the star nut normally comes with a new headset. they only cost about a quid from your LBS though and crc must do 'em for very little.

    i got one with my tora 318's yet it was in a stupid place in the steerer so it couldnt be used after you had cut the steerer down to a decent size,

    You could have knocked it down to below where you were cutting. They go down but don't come up. I had my LBS fit the star washer high in my forks and then taped it down with a punch to below the cut line. The difficult bit is getting them in straight in the first place, once they're in no hassle.
    It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.
