anyone know where i can get some headset bearings for my 2007 trek pilot 1.0 ive asked my lbs and they have give me the bearings code which is mh-p04 39x6.5 x 450 the trek manual says the headset is aheadset slimstak w/semi- sealed cartridge bearings sealed, but the bike shop says the headset is made by another company but labelled cane creek, and the bearings are hard to get hold of so i might need to get a new headset but which one?

Get a Cane Creek S3. Only about £25-30.

I would expect that a set of standard Cane Creek cartridge headset bearings will fit - trouble is finding someone who sells them separately. Treks typically take a semi-integrated headset, so I doubt the aforementioned S3 will be any use, unless you just buy one to use the bearings. I 'm surprised your LBS isn't more helpful - have you tried a Trek dealer?
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

Likewise. Most bearings are standard sizes and are widely available. They don't have to be cycling specific. A good LBS will be able to source them

IME most Trek dealers aren't the really knowledgeable sort of bike shop. If it's broke, get a new unit. If it's not in the Bontrager/Trek catalogue it's too much trouble
