Hello,

I've recently aquired a Klein Attitude XX frame which has never been built.

My project now is to build this thing up from scratch. I know this is likely to be a rather expensive affair and I'm prepared for that, but does anyone have any tips on how to economocally do DIY custom builds ie with buying discounted parts etc. Should I buy in bulk from a local shop and ask discount for example or is it best to hunt around on the net for individual parts? Has anyone else done this?

Whether you go for the LBS approach or internet approach is up to you. Even with any bulk discounts and free fitting etc, buying off the internet will still almost always work out cheaper. Still, the chances are you are going to need to go to your LBS anyway to get things like the headset fitted. If you go through your LBS you will get a personal service and you may get free services/repairs in the future.

You could save a bit by buying a groupset rather than the individual components:
Shimano XT groupset

Then maybe a pair of handbuilt wheels, stem and bar combo, SDG I-beam post and saddle combo ?
