Scott Scale Seventy upgades

Had my Scale Seventy for four months and I am beginning to consider what improvements could be made. The bike is standard at present with the exception of the tyres, having been replaced for Panaracers.
I like the V brakes and do not feel the need for discs.
I ride Bridleways and may do a few races in the summer.
I understand the forks are not the best what would be appropriate upgrades to consider?

Nice bke, great frames.
Yep, I'd go for the fork. A reba sl or race, though quite expensive, will improve the front end no end, and will reduce the weight by nearly two pounds0 -
I upgraded the forks, saddle and bars on my 50; riser bars meant my wrists didn't feel contorted and painful, and a new saddle made me stop thinking how uncomfortable the stock saddle is.0

Wheelset if you are looking at saving weight, also perhaps carbon bars, and seatpost.0

i have had 2 scotts, a racing comp and a scale 40 both were great bikes forks would be my 1st upgrade.0

forks, you could go the whole hog and get the new SIDs0

Decided to begin by changing my handlebars or headset think I can improve my position.
I throw my bike in the back of the car most weekends.
How strong are carbon bars?
Like the idea of changing forks.
Though the forks seem to handle most of my riding, will I notice the difference of a lighter set of forks?0 -
Yep, it will transform the bike, believe me.
Carbon is plenty strong enough if built for the right scenario - as this is XC, almost any bar will be fine.0 -
The SID forks look a little expensive.
What are other good forks to consider?
Are they easy to fit?
Do they need to be a particular size to fit?0 -
Just make sure it has the right brake mounts. Simple as that for an XC fork. You may have difficulty finding some forks with V mounts though come to think of it.
Fitting guides on Park Tools: takes some work.
What budget do you have?0 -
Looking for cheapest set of forks possible.
Does any one recondition them?
Are the Toras worth considering?0 -
Toras will improve performance - but may not reduce weight (depending on the version you get), Look for air sprung version, alu steerers (if possible) and also the Recon fork.0

This is the best I can find for now:

Shoul drop nearly a pound in weight off your bike.0 -
Thanks.
Been xmas shopping today.
Now looking on Ebay at second hand.
Colour not important, Brother can respray.
Anything worth considering?0 -
It can be a lottery - if needs servicing, or bits replacing in a month then looking at nearly another 100 quid to be spent.0
