It's funny how you can go off some people, isn't it?

    Damn.

I was going to go for a ride on Saturday, but the weather forecast looks lousy, so I was going to go on Sunday instead.

    Suppose I could record it.

I don't think that my download speed wll be good enough to stream it live, but, from a quick look at the freecast site, I'm fairly sure that it'll be there to watch for a while afterwards. At least I hope so.

Is it just me? Surely the laying of all that tarmac on wembley is a - largely pointless - eco nightmare
  • Wembley itself is a largely pointless nightmare.

    HAHAHAHAHA!

It's not going to happen - too slippery!

Now, how do they fill the next 30 minutes?!

I have NO interest in cars, so I'm off to bed...

McLaren asked for it to be cancelled to save face. They know Hoy would have kicked Hamilton's butt

Why can't Hoy ride? it's only slightly damp tarmac, what's the worst that could happen? he falls off his bike? it's less dangerous than riding the track.
  • I watched Chris Hoy try the circuit this morning - he was not happy then with the grip levels, oil had gone down from a car and the dust they had used on the corners to soak it up was making it very slippery - never really saw him able to corner at speed. He was even off the bike in some corners and rubbing the tyre across the surface to try to assess the grip. For those interested, he was on a Dolan frame and running a freewheel.

The event before the Hoy - Hamilton shoot out was also cut short as the 'celebrities' kept shunting the Arbarths.

It's all gone quiet over there. Just a static camera on the half way line with no sound.

  • what a big girls blouse!!!! :D

was a bit dissapointing after all the hype that it was cancelled, surely they could have forseen it may get a bit slippery being as it was new tarmac and lots of cars going around, but hey wht do I know.
Wasn't as good an event as 2007, alhough theer were some funny crashes, you can always rely on coulthard!

Hoy was saying black ice. Bit silly to risk a bust hip or something in a 'celeb' race.

Would have been good for Dave to win the ROC but he did make it to the final depsite making a mess of one of the KTM thingies.

    Ahem..

Don't rake up my mistakes, i know exactly what they are.
  • A very frustrating afternoon out in amongst the petrol heads. I saw a few people in cycling type attire who nodded at my woolly Planet-X hat so we had infiltrated the ranks of Clarkson wannabies.

Once the celeb racing was cut short due to them wrecking four cars I feared for the event. There were mumblings of disquiet around us even at that stage.

The trackside commentators seemed to have no idea what was going on and asked Hoy how he felt the race would go. It was he that told them it was off!

More people moaned and some even left near us. We toughed out the nations cup and 100 demos of the same bloke donut-ing  a car just to see the Red Bull X-Fighters who were the best thing we actually saw.

Plenty of air (despite the icy conditions) and 100% landed on two wheels. Awesome.

After that we couldn't wait to get out of Wembley (and at just after 5 o'clock we weren't alone; there were a good two thousand heading home) and back out of London to get home and warm.

I do feel a bit sorry for the organisers as the racing never got off the ground and the atmosphere was killed early on with the first two event being cancelled and people got cold watching the same thing. If I had been a family of four I would have wanted my money back.

Won't be going back next year even if there is a cycling element.
  • I left early too - about 3.00pm after watching the first rounds of the Nations Cup and finding cars tip-toeing round a tiny circuit very boring.

  • It was totally freezing wasnt it?
  • dang chilly - I was in the media area and my hands got too cold to type! Must have been freezing sat there for the full event - you must have to be a real fan to pull that off.

oh - and the food prices were entertaining, £8 for cheese burger and chips?

Glad I found out about freecaster. Cups of tea on tap, 8 foot stroll to the loos with no queue plus all the other luxuries of home.
