I found this comment from Don Caitlin about the testing programme for Armstrong.
"The program we want to do is going to be intensive. And he's a moving target. He's very busy. Keeping up with him, testing him, takes a lot of planning and it hasn't all come together yet."
Now am I missing something but others just had to be there and give the samples, especially Kevin Van Impe who was arranging his son's funeral. Are there double standards, surely Armstrong should just make himself available.

I suspect they've met precisely once so far, at the press conference

And as for longitudinal testing... ?

    CATLIN!

And that's not for testing. Lance hasn't even agreed the scope of the programme or signed anything yet.

    Smokescreen.
Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.
  • smokescreen correct

he is required to have 6 months blood record before testing

the 'discussions' are another delaying factor.

suppose a rider was using a steriod, and training , building muscle core strength and efficiency.
then he goes racing after 4 weeks leaves his system........ and season long preformance benfits...this rider has massive benfits

The man has been dogged by doping allegations you don't need to be Max Clifford to know that his first PR goal has to be refuting these claims.

After promising a big programme and plenty of transparency, we are still waiting. He even got the UCI to suspend its doping rules to let him back into competition. Even if he is coming back 100% clean, it gives his detractors a free stick to beat him with and leaves a lot of question marks. He should be doing a lot better.

To be fair, for once, to the man he's been tested 9 times so far since announcing his comeback. Which I'd guess is more than any other cyclist out there.
  • Once again Lance is the most tested athlete on earth

Anyone else notice the evidence fail here?
This is exactly what the LA PR machine is trying to create though, isn't it?
Most tested athlete, honestly he's clean, that I have to keep saying it doesn't mean he's not...
At least we can conclude that evidence is less important than PR!

  • I know one or two think it's all PR with Bob, but he does seem genuinely interested in tackling the issue. I'm sure Iain can fill me in on the details of exactly how little he's really doing..........and that's meant honestly - tell me as I'm labouring under the impression that Columbia are doing their bit where others maybe aren't.

Is there an independent source for that figure, or is it another product of the twitter propaganda propogator?
Catlin might well be genuine, hence his inclusion in this scheme. I get the impression he's going to be used and abused.

As for the most tested athlete I remember reading somewhere (and will see if I can dig it out) that this is another nonsense put around. He was not even in the top 10 mosted tested athletes.

the revealing thing for me was Lemond at the LA-Caitlin PR effort was that Lemond at 47 still has a VO2 of high 80s-in other words-VO2 max is genetic...laying bare the truth about Miguel Indurain, lance Armstrong...they were not forces of nature as TDF winner s as there was no previous indication they could possibly become what they did-poor mountain climbing, poor recovery over 3 weeks in their early attempts at grands tours

To be fair I don't think Indurain suddenly came from nowhere but built up to his wins, he had some pretty decent results prior to 1991 and learnt a lot under Delgado.

not a single indication of consistency over 3 weeks in the 1980s-tunred pro 85...this is used as evidence LA doped..why not Indurain? lemond reveals that V02 is set by DNA or by doping...cannot be changed much by training...leaves LAs explanations of development of his career vulnerable to say the least
