I have just purchased the above bike from Halfords for only £525! It was on sale with nearly £150 off and with a 10% discount and 2.5% reduction in VAT - down from £749.99 I would have thought that at that price it was good value for money - alot better than full price and other bikes going for £525.
I have been reading another thread about the Boardman Road bike and some people in forum slammed the 7005 double butted aluminium frames. What exactly is wrong with them? Too weak and not long lasting?
I have asked the shop too build the bike for me but may give it a little look over before riding it - have noticed Halfords have got a bad reputation with knocking out unroadworthy bikes.
In comparison to other bikes going for £525 from your LBS (local bike shop) or Halfords it seems like a good buy - does anyone esle think otherwise - I look forward to any input on the best bike for the lowest price and more.
What do you think the main Pros and Cons are of this bike with regards to specification - no need to go on about the con that it was brought through Halfords - I would have brought my bike from a LBS but my local shop has recently annoyed me by doing some shoddy work on my old Marin - it came our worse than I gave it in!!!!! And what you can get from the LBS for £525 is not much.
Here is the full spec of bike:
* Semi compact frame design: 54cm
* 7005 Aluminium fully double butted frame
* Lightweight Carbon Fibre blades with Cro-moly steerer
* Semi integrated cartridge bearing headset
* Full carbon spacers 4x5mm 1x10mm
* Ritchey OS 31.8mm stem
* Ritchey MTN Pro Flat OS 31.8mm handlebars
* Ritchey Logic MTN WCS 100mm bar end
* Ritchey Pro V2 27.2mm seatpost
* CBoardman Comfort Sport saddle, Cro-Mo rails
* Avid Juicy 5 hydraulic disc brakes, 160mm rotors
* SRAM X7 9 speed Trigger shifters
* SRAM X9 Mid cage rear mech
* Shimano R440 front mech
* SRAM PG950 11-32T cassette
* Shimano HG73 chain
* Truvativ Elita 2.2 Compact 50/36T chainset
* Truvativ GXP bottom bracket
* Xero XSD 29 rims
* Xero XSD, super smooth sealed bearing hubs
* Stainless steel double butted spokes
* Maxxis Detonator 28C tyres
* Alloy body pedals, steel cage, toe clips and straps
ps this thread has been moved from 'road' section as is a communting thread.

is there really a need for tow posts on something you have already done?
Please keep it to one post.
