Going away does not mean going inside, being banged up, etc.

Litts has with the subtlety of n MFI Bank Holiday sale advert told us he's off for three weeks to SA.

I'm off between Xmas & New Year with the family skiing (somewhere that currently has somewhere between abso-bloody-lutely no and fcuk all snow  ).

Who else is off, and where? Who's staying at home? Who gets the short straw (aka the in-laws) ?
Swim. Bike. Run. Yeah. That's what I used to do.

Ah! See! the man who is claiming 450 quid a week on incapacity benefit and child care for his 7 kids by 9 mothers is GOING SKIING!!!!!!

You are rumbled, expect the knock at your door soon!

I'm going nowhere as the logistics of moving Bianchi make D-Day look like a picnic.

I do however have a tree and a party hat (left over from last year)
Fixed gear for wet weather / hairy roadie for posing in the sun.

    What would Thora Hurd do?

Off from the 20th to the 5th, at home in Essex.

Mostly cooking with Mother for the christmas parties we put on at home for the employees/volunteers of the family business. They start this weekend.

I plan to escape on the bike regularly, I'm also taking the FG home and am going to learn to track stand if it kills me. In fact, a debilitating injury may be a cunning plan to escape the cooking.

EDIT: How on earth do you plan to ski anyway?

Skiing is a kind of mobile chiropractice, right, Greg? It's like how psoriasis has to be treated with sunshine breaks.

I am going to Wales for three days! I don't even know which town, only that it's in Powys, near Pistyll Rhaedr (sp?).

Off skiing to Obergurgl in Austria for Christmas. I chose Obergurgl because it is good for intermediates like the dearly beloved, high/snow sure and has some good touring if I get an afternoon or morning to play on my own.

We then get back and head up to N Wales for the NY. I am taking mtn bike, road bike, kitesurf kit and climbing kit so should have all bases covered :D

I'm not telling you. My Mum said it's not nice to show off

  • I'm not going anywhere as I'm working the 25 & 26. I'll think of you all enjoying yourselves.

I may even cycle in both days depending on the conditions. I still need to be careful though as I'm only just getting over coming off and ending up with a badly broken right arm. :(

Linds, you should go to Axminster to the River Cottage Canteen. It's amazing - well worth the (fairly short) journey.

During X-mas and New Year I tend to huddle around the very large family. I'm so conditioned that the thought of going on holiday now is unthinkable.

X-mas eve - I'm doing my X-mas Shopping and then drinks to get absolutely blind drunk.

X-mas day - Spent with me and the girlfriend.

Boxing Day - My parents, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and 2nd, 3rd, 4th - 9th Cousins etc

Intermission - The rest of the week will be spent playing X-box, reading comics and eating turkey sandwiches.

News Years Eve - See my best mate, ala personal pact we made many moons ago. Other than that no plans yet, will involve alcohol, very bass filled music and a New Years eve snog (feels good when its guaranteed - no pressure to find a girl and persuade her into kissing me).

New Years day - Brothers Birthday. Everyone including 9th - 15th Cousins descend upon my parent home, in severe pain, to celebrate my Bro.

Remainder of '09 - Nothing, except hunderds of weddings as all my friends have decided to get married or have kids or both. January will be sent gathering finances for two major stag-do's in February - Why am I telling you this? Because one of the weddings is being held in the Temple church next to the high court with the reception also at the Temple - and that is just awesome!

    That's how I roll!

  • I'm with the other half and the in-laws for Christmas (by choice!), then off to see my Dad down in Cardiff for the New Year. Little brother's off to see the family in Toronto, the sneaky so-and-so...

This Sat. is a dry (hopefully not the meat) run of the big family Christmas dinner, there will be enough food & drink to sustain a small invasion fleet.

The actual BIG day this year will be spent at home alone with the little ones, I plan not to get out of my PJ's all day and not to swear quite so much whilst putting together yet more expensive noisy plastic rubbish, bah! humbug.

Boxing day will be a repeat performance of this Sat. with even greater quantities of food & drink, alas my dear mother-in-law is no longer with us, she actually did the bird-in-a-bird-in-a-bird etc. etc. dish one year it was amazing.

St. James gate has been informed of the impending increase in demand.

I'll be having my first proper family Christmas at home, then off to the see the olds for a few days.

After that, I'm off until 4th Jan, so fingers crossed there'll be some biking in there :)

Biondino - are you going to Rhayader?? There's some fantastic riding (road and mountain) round the Elan Valley if the weather is OK.

Did I mention I'm flying to Cape Town tomorrow? No!

Oh well, a few details then. 2 days at a vineyard boutique hotel. 2 weeks in Knysna. I really do hope the speedboat has been fully serviced, you just can't get the best out of it, particularly for wakeboarding, when it's not running A1.

A top end FS mountain bike to cover some of the many many miles of superb trails in the surrounding countryside.

Finally, back to Cape Town area to stay here

Yes enjoy, here's some kind words from the foreign office

    Terrorism
There is an underlying threat from terrorism. Attacks, although unlikely, could be indiscriminate, including in places frequented by expatriates and foreign travellers.

    Crime
South Africa has a very high level of crime, including rape and murder. However, most cases occur in the townships and in areas away from the main tourist destinations.

During 2007 and 2008 there have been a number of incidents involving foreigners being followed from OR Tambo Airport, Johannesburg to their destinations by car and then robbed, often at gunpoint. We recommend you exercise particular caution in and around the airport and extra vigilance when driving away.

Keep your baggage with you at all times. Due to pilfering of luggage at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, it is recommended that where possible, and where local regulations permit, hold luggage is vacuum wrapped.

    Passport theft is common.

    Nice
