I assume that chianstay length is the distance from the bottom bracket axle to the centre of the rear drop out but could any one explain why figures in excess of 400 mm are often cited for chainstay length on frames?

My chainstays on my Ribble frame are just over 400mm.

    What's the issue?

Ignore me, I've got flu and a head full of cotton wool, of course that's the length of them (reading inches as cms!)
