Will be buying a Dh bike after christmas, It will be specced with a 888 RCV as stock. However i am toying with the idea to swap this for a totem straight away. I know the 888 is good but i reckon i can ebay it and buy a Totem coil, the base model, without much extra money needing to be spent.

I know the 888 is practically bombproof but i really like the idea of a single crown, i have compared axel to crown lengths and there is only 2mm in it, so not a problem at all.

Has anyone rode both these forks? any preferences / advice?

Or simply any owner advice / warnings about either fork on its own!

Cheers, Jamie

  • hey matey, ive got totems they are really stiff plush fork but i would advise getting solo air if u do decide to go down the route of totems, as if you dont like the feel of a coil i.e to soft or to hard your going to have to mess about puttin different springs and oil volumes in, and it will get a bit pricey so be safe and stick to air as its easy to set up to your preference.

    What bike is it?

Why do you like the idea of a single crown? For DH a dounle crown fork it better suited.

An air fork, it's out of my price range.
  • i guess i see a single crown as more manourverable and maybe lighter than a 888.

How does an 888 compare to other triple clamps on the market?
  • I'd stick to coil m8.

You're going to have more manouverability with a single crown fork but if only doing dh i'd get the double crown.

888 or totem are both good forks, but from using a marz' myself (not an 888 though a 66) i'm more biased toward the marz'.

    Hope that help's m8. 8)
