British Cycling - expensive?

I've been looking at joining British Cycling. Mainly this is for the insurance.
Looking at the website, I was shocked at the cost of membership.
Silver £35
Gold £62
Info: https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/web/s ... oin_bc.asp
CTC is £36, but I don't think gives the same cover.
Is British Cycling really worth £62?
Thoughts . . . . .

The only thing Gold membership gives you over Silver is personal accident insurance. Not really sure how worth having this cover is, and it may well replicate cover you have as part of a life assurance policy anyway.
Have you looked at BC's "EveryDayCycling" membership instead. Similar benefits to Silver and £24/year, but you can't then add a racing licence as well if you are planning to do any road racing.

If you think it's expensive in the UK, you should look at the comparative costs of a racing license in France and other countries - many require a compulsory medical certificate even at amateur level. If you consider the total cost of racing per year i.e. kit, entries, travel etc then the cost of your license is fairly low as part of the overall cost.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

That could be a good option.
Are there any members of British Cycling on here?Stumpjumper FSR 09/10 Pro Carbon, Genesis Vapour CX20 ('17)Carbon, Rose Xeon CW3000 '14, Raleigh R50

I'm a silver member but only got that in order to get a racing licence which is another £31 on top of the membership fee, so quite expensive really. However its about £10 a race extra if your not a member with a race licence so if you intend to race get them both.0

Yes, BC siver member, because it gives me the third party cover needed. It's also the minimum level of membership that coaches need.3 grand bike...30 Bob legs....Slowing with style0

I don't think the race licence is an issue for me.
