do i have to remove the handlebar tape everytime i fit a new gear cable, or can i just use the old housing and thread the new cable through it

Depends. You'll generally be ok if it's decent quality housing and you squirt a bit of lube down it or grease the inner cable every so often, but if it's cheap stuff and poorly maintained, it will need to be changed out. Basically, look after it and you won't have to change it for a couple of years.0

That's what i've heard but that's what came on it, i'm poor so a grand on a decent campag groupset seems a waste of money just for a bit of tart value, it shifts beeeeaaauuutifuly, both speed wise and gear change wise, i've not owned campag but tried my mates Bianchi and hate those little thumb stick things, i'm no pro so for now it's fine 8)winter beast: http://i497.photobucket.com/albums/rr34 ... uff016.jpg
