routes between weston super mare and bridgewater

i'm organising a mountain biking exped that will run through the whole wessex region. i intend to start in plymouth and go to barnstaple on the devon c2c. from there i will head to street on the west country way. my final section is from weston super mare to collingbourne ducis on the wessex way.
my main question is, does anyone know any totally (or near total) off road routes that link the west country way to the wessex way around the street/ bridgewater area? it doesn't have to go into weston super mare, but the closer the better.
other than that does anyone have experience of this kind of trip, and if so can you give me any advice?
