I suffer from fibromyalgia and feel absolutly gutted that ive had to stop cycling

havent been on bike for over a week and either walked or got lift to work

The wind chill is just too much and no matter what i wear and how many layers legs get effected really bad in the cold at the best of times so on commute its almost unbearable :(. couldnt move left side the other day and if i continue to ride in these conditions will just get really bad

havent a great deal of funds available so any decent turbos i could buy sub £100 or are they just not worth the money??

hopefully it gets a little more mild or my bike is staying in the shed for a while

Atleast you have a good excuse. I got up and it was peeing down and took the bus. :)

I wouldnt worry, you could always use it as an excuse to vary your exercise and play with weights, go for a short walk, etc.

I've got this one, but only used it a few times. Not sure what your money buys with the more expensive ones, but I wouldn't want to spend much money on a TT anyway - much rather pspend it on the bike. Using a TT is not fun, but at least it gets some exercise in without having to battle outside.

I wouldn't know what to recommend, but this works perfectly well.

You could also try some rollers, they start at about 60 quid, just do it next to something for support as you can wobble I'm told. The tacx surrus (sp?) is also supposed rto be pretty good for around a ton.

Indoor training means you can stick on a cd or watch dvds :D

god i hate this wearther, but managed first ride in nearly 10 days today, not icy just bit damp. didnt realise how much my fitness on the bike would drop over 10 days, been exercising, walking to work and wathcing my food a lot more since not riding but my was it hard this morning

well hopefully get another ride in the rest of the week, got thursday and fri off so looking for a decent ride on thursday all being well.
  • I enjoyed my ride in yesterday morning and evening, wet but at least i had some traction.

I fully intended riding this morning but after de-icing the padlock on the shed i got my bike out and as i was setting off i tested the rear brake and found that the disc brake had jammed and wouldn't release :? [i have Shimano mechanical disc brakes on a Scott Hybrid] Upshot was i had to turn round get out of me cycling gear and drive to work anyone else had this trouble?

I drove in today after a nasty crash on Monday.

Hit a sheet of ice in the dark early hours and went down like a sack of spuds!!

Nothing broken but stiff arms and neck and another icy morning forced me to take the car!

Feeling guilty, but back on the tricross tomorrow.
