Morning All

Hope everyone is cool and groovy :)

I used the Eclipse tubeless conversion kits from justridingalong.com to go tubeless earlier this year and now am in need of some replacement sealent. Do I have to use Eclipse solution or can I use any solution?

I've got XM719 rims with Maxxis Ignitor tyres, what solution would people recommend?

there is no reson why you cant use any othe sealant. i have only used stans and find it very good. from what i can gather, they are all much of a muchness so i would probably go for the cheapest (although i will be using stans as i know it works)
  • Sorry to butt in, as I'm about to go tubeless myself, do you just keep topping the sealant up? I mean - again and again? I just thought your tyre would eventually clog up with old sealant and make the sealing worthless wouldn't it?

i havent needed to top up or replace any sealant yet. if you did need to replace it for whatever reason i would remove the old stuff (whether its still wet or gone dry) and put in some new stuff.
  • The sealent will eventually dry up forming a latex skin within the tyre and then the tyre will need pumpiong up every few days or so, this has been my experience with the Eclipse (now DT) solution that came with the kits I used.

I've been led to believe that this is the norm and that you will need to replace the solution every once in a while. Its kinda fun in an odd sort of way, like peeling sunburnt skin

I use Stans fluid with Eclipse kits.

  • On the Stans website it says you will need to top up every 3 months or so. They are probably trying to flog more sealant so I would say top up when you start to loose air...
