Ferrari vs Biological passport
Thisis the greatest thing I've read in ages
His attitude is pretty 'king amazing and I love the inclusion of the Anquetil quote
It's almost like he's saying "yes I dope them but I'm cleverer than you and you'll never catch me"

Is he saying don't make an exact science out of something that isn't, or is he saying don't eat too much pizza?O na bawn i fel LA0

We know he's been dosing riders with EPO, advising on blood doping and also manipulating with products from aspirin to haemaccel and actovegin. So Ferrari has been playing with haematocrit counts already. This makes him one of the most crooked medical figures linked to sport. It's like reading comments about bank security from Ronnie Biggs. The man has been linked to doping many, many riders.
It's not scientific. Simply publishing one set of unverified data from a rider means nothing. From 44% to 49% is possible but it's one rider done once and no one is checking the protocol.
It's just a cynical attempt to try to explain away significant movements in the count. He may be right, which is why the passport does not bring automatic punishment, but this is pure provocation from him.0 -
Well, the pizza test begs the question as to how is grand tour stable maintained their HCT so nicely when a single day of cycling seems to have knocked it down in al 6 athletes. Misdirection is all this is.
Refer to the Merchant of Venice about citing scripture.Dan0 -
Ferrari's oranges comment was fine in my book.....but his "what eludes doping controls is not doping" comment in 1994 is the most wreckless comment ever from a sports Dr.0

There are some serious points raised here.
If his data about variation of Hct & Hb are valid, then the UCI's reference values aren't reliable indicators of blood manipulation.Remember that you are an Englishman and thus have won first prize in the lottery of life.0 -
Don't lapp up the spin from the arch doper. He cites one example, hardly a neutral test under controlled and blind conditions, and already people are questioning the UCI and WADA processes. The point is that if a rider's count varies this much, an enormous alarm bell should be ringing, it is not thanks to a slice of pizza.0
