which disc brakes and wheels

Iam looking to get rid of my old v-brakes and wheels and replacing with hope disc's and hope wheelset built up by merlin not sure which rims want something strong for jumping freeride etc any ideas and is this the way to go. looking at spending about 400 pounds

Most hope brakes use a IS mount caliper which means you will need an adaptor. The way this works, converting the caliper to fit a post mount fork means you must use a minimum rotor size of 180mm (though there is now a 170mm Shimano adaptor). Unfortunately the fork may not be designed to take a rotor this big.
For wheels, if must use hope, then Pro2 on 721 rims with DB spokes is a good bet.0 -
I'm open to ideas on wheels and brakes if there is something better around the 400 marks0

I'm running Deore LX brakes, 160/160. Can be had for £130 from www.realcycles.com
Wheels, I have Mavic 321's, DT Swiss spokes on XT hubs, you can pick these up for about £150 a set if you shop around.....http://stcolin.pinkbike.com
