I'm in Inverness. Tonight, was taking it easy coming home, guy pulled out on me whilst turning right. I bellowed at the fact that he had to slam on the anchors and it was icy and snowing. He waited until I had got a few yards in front, revved really hard and pointed the car at me and swerved away at the last minute. He kept slowing and then taking off in front of me. I was a tad upset!!!!
I've no idea what this behaviour is about. What I do know is that I'm going to get hurt one of these days and simply because I choose to cycle to work. Inverness reckons it's a quiet and polite law abidin' kinda place. Really.

I camped there on my way to thurso in the summer - set up tent in that big campsite with the high, high fence round it... At the raigmore roundabout we got off and pushed our bikes round on the grass...
But hey the guy in the bike shop re-opened specially to sell us a map!0 -

You should have taken his license plate and reported him ideally. We're in the same situation here in Southampton where driving standards are getting poor enough in cases that its gets quite frightening navigating the roads.
I call it the stoppy-starty game when they do that infront of you. Technically I wonder if it would come under dangerous driving?0 -
Sorry to hear that. As said, get his plate and report him (not sure the police will do much though unless there are witnesses).
Went to Inverness a couple of years ago and loved it. Took the train out to Nairn (/sp?) and fell in love with the place. I could have sat on the jetty out to the crystal blue sea all day despite the cold - but daughter and wife weren't prepared to let me But Nairn is up there as somewhere I'll have to go back to - even though I imagine living there would be a bit dull or two close knit for my London waysPain is only weakness leaving the body0 -
I think of it this way,
A car is big and heavy, if someone annoys me i try my hardest to ignore it as there are plenty of 'tough guys' out there who will take offence at being shouted at, i just think ah well at least he noticed me and im not on the floor with a broken collar bone again, if it riles you up that much you must be willling to get off the bike so you can get out of the way(also make sure bike is safely out of distance as the poor darlin's can't heal themselves like we can 8) ) and then voice your opinions/ kick the car/ whatever you want to do, you must also be willing to fight whoever it is should he stop.
It's crap but it's the way it is unfortunately, he obviously let you go as otherwise you wouldn't have been in front of him :?
I don't excuse his behaviour and i understand how frustrating it is but in that situation (which i've been in a few times) i would have thanked the guy for letting me go.
I know i'm guna get a lot of stick for this post but at the end of the day that's life, the guy probably made a mistake in the first instance, happens to the best of us.If he drove at you forcing you into a hedge that's different, but it probably wasn't done on purpose which is why he got so wound up at you're reply.
I can't stress this enough but........

Aye, I just about got his number (plate obscured a bit by snow) but nae help from the Polis. However, it happened just along the road from where I live so it shouldn't be too hard to find the so and so. I'm a bit calmer now, so won't bother but I really didn't think that sort of thing would happen here.
Funny thing is that I used to climb a lot, and never had the feeling that I would get hurt the way that I do with cycling. I sometimes think it's a matter of time.

Stefano,
You will get no stick from me. I wish I had your good grace and equanimity and I am generally a reasonable bloke. Sometimes, the belligerent dundonian in me breaks out. But thank him, no.0 -
Don't get me wrong i've snapped, i posted that from an idealistic point of view. I once pulled a cheap chain out like a maniac and went running down the road after someone, however after breaking my collarbone it opened my eyes to my vulnerability on the road, i'll post a picwinter beast: http://i497.photobucket.com/albums/rr34 ... uff016.jpg

I've gone proper aggro myself in the past  I'm not proud of it, but after the 4th or 5th time someone puts my life in danger I do tend to get a little wound up. I dont think some drivers see it like that - they just see another lycra lout0

I don't think its worth getting worked up about if someone acts like a complete toolbag. They do the same if you're in a car. Its in their nature - they are neds/chavs/scum whatever you want to call them and the only joy they get in their life is driving like c*cks. What brains they have are so miniscule that they don't think of the consequences.
Agree with Stefano though. If you get into aggro you've got to front them out.Like this.....
